Eastern District
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)
The Eastern District (central and western New York, the state of Pennsylvania and Maryland's Cumberland Gap) is made up of eight zones that share the saving Gospel of Christ locally and worldwide through their various ministries and assist local congregations in their ministry outreach efforts. The Eastern District is one of 43 districts in the Int'l Lutheran Laymen's League (People of Christ, with a Message of Hope). Together the districts seek ways to accomplish Int'l Lutheran Laymen's League's mission statement: "Bringing Christ to the Nations -- and the Nations to the Church." Lutheran Hour Ministries, with headquarters in St. Louis, is a service of the International Lutheran Laymen's League (Int'l LLL) a volunteer organization. The Int'l LLL is an auxiliary of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Lutheran Church-Canada.

65rd ANNUAL EASTERN DISTRICT LUTHERAN LAYMEN'S LEAGUE CONVENTION --- and SEMINAR

Lutheran Hour Ministries' new men's ministry, "LHM Men's Network", is scheduled to be test launched this Fall. It seeks to capitalize on the talents and strengths of men in the Church. Central to the LHM Men's Network is its mission and prayer that the Holy Spirit will draw men to the church through Christ-centered teaching, using them as mentors and hands-on servants and also supporting them in their lives. Through Bible studies, church and community social activities, periodic retreats and workshops, and local or regional service opportunities, the men's ministry will provide tools to sharpen men's groups already active but who acknowledge that greater service and stronger fellowship are possible. The new men's ministry will assist existing groups with resources and fresh ideas to expand their mission. For churches without a men's group there will be tools available to build and solidify a group of dedicated disciples who can make a difference in their churches, communities, and families.
NOTE: Even though it's designed for men, it's anticipated that women's and couples' groups may participate
