The Eastern District (central and western New York, the state of Pennsylvania and Maryland's Cumberland Gap) is made up of eight zones that share the saving Gospel of Christ locally and worldwide through their various ministries and assist local congregations in their ministry outreach efforts.
The Eastern District is one of 43 districts in the Int'l Lutheran Laymen's League. Together the districts seek ways to accomplish Int'l Lutheran Laymen's League's mission statement: "Bringing Christ to the Nations -- and the Nations to the Church." Lutheran Hour Ministries, with headquarters in St. Louis, is a service of the International Lutheran Laymen's League (Int'l LLL) a volunteer organization. The Int'l LLL is an auxiliary of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Lutheran Church-Canada.
The Eastern District is holding its District convention September 13-15, 2002 at Pioneer, Camp and Retreat Center, Angola, NY. During the convention, Gerald Perschbacher, Editor, of "The Layman" for International Lutheran Laymen's League in St. Louis, MO. will update attendees on domestic and international ministries.
